Project: Live Polyrhythm Metronome

What it is: A live, interactive polyrhythm metronome web app targeting djent and progressive metal drummers and musicians. Think of those animated polyrhythm videos that go viral on YouTube — concentric geometric rings with colored dots traveling along them — but running in real time in the browser. Drummers set custom subdivisions per ring, set their BPM, and play along visually and audibly.

Tue 04.28: - Working Prototype 1- Testing results from Reddit/Local drummers/Local guitarists- A/B Test classmates on visual identity- Personal playtest

Thu 04.30: - Working Prototype 2- Tweaked ideas based on testing - Based on fidelity add more features, onboarding, ideas for scaling

User 1:- Tested sounds- Preferred the first drum kit sound concept- Thought that the sine waves were easy to differentiate but might be hard on the ears after a while. - Thought that the drum kit sounds were the most obvious parallel between the purpose and use case.

User 3:- Tested visuals- Preferred the swiss design approach but also like the darker styles.- Drawn to the colorful version of the swiss style

- Said that color might make it more fun to use, compared to metronomes they’ve used- Wanted presets

User 1:- Loved the colors- Liked the drag features- Wanted the dots to be something else

- Suggested arrows instead- Thought about a scroll-to-rearrange function- Voted no onboarding- Didn’t need bpm label- Reset button!

User 2:- Tapped along successfullly- Loved the sounds- Thought it was easy to use - Voted no onboarding- Didn’t need bpm label- Export to midi function would be cool- Polymeter function would also be cool

User 4:- Tested visuals and sound- Preferred the ‘comet trails’ visuals over the shapes- Enjoyed the idea of dragging through time signatures.

- Wanted volume controls for each ring- Liked the drum kit sounds most but thought that the kick was too loud.

User 2:- Tested Visuals- Preferred the swiss design approach.

- Thought that with some more clarity on what does what, it would be the easiest to use. - Immediately understood the concept- Didn’t like the overlapping lines, felt too cluttered

Tue 05.05: - Final tweaks- Test again to get final insights

- Flesh out and finalize added features if any
